UC Showdown!

So recently I was notified that Spencer from UC: Irvine has spoken to Speedventures regarding a track day. Sounds good right?

The event will take place at November 5th, 2011 at Willow Springs is located in Rosamond which is about 80 miles from UCR. It takes about 1.5 hours to get there.

So far it's $130+ Free timer rental (which is a $20 value)

There is a $10 gate fee for everyone including drivers. There are NO ride alongs unless you are an instructor.

The entry price could drop once more people are committed to this event.
$130 is on the lower end (price wise) for a track day. The cheapest I've seen was $99 + Timer rental ($20) and up.

The course will be in a CW (clock wise fashion). One lap averages a beginner around 1:30-1:35 and each session is about 20 mins and there are 5 sessions in a day.

This track a two main high speed sections, which in my car, 2007 Honda Civic Si reaches about 100 mph. The corners are mainly lower speed and it similar to a quick canyon run. The two straights are located on the right side of the "bowl" and at the front straight at the bottom of the map.

Speedventure usually has 5 different groups for whichever level you're comfortable driving in. There's a beginner group which is for anyone who has never done any type of "fast" driving (Autocross, Adams Track, canyons, etc.)

The group above that is the low-intermediate group, which I recommend to most people that are comfortable driving on the track. The higher levels are for those that want to drive at a faster pace and are comfortable with others.

The basic mods I would do the any car for this event would be high performance brake fluid (ATE Super Blue ~$12 a bottle or Motul RBF 600 ~$16 a bottle, which you need 3) and a set of entry level brake pads.

I will continue to add to this post in the future so check back for any updates.

Drive@UCR's Fall Meet #2

Drive@UCR's 2nd meet was a success. The parking lot was pretty much filled to capacity and there wasn't any trouble with ricers. This meet starts at around 8PM at the Boba Tea House plaza in Riverside. It was great to see the regulars again and even better to see new faces that came out to the meet. Too bad my speedlight was dead so everything here was shot with my 35mm f1.8. Thanks to everyone who help keep the lot clean and I hope to see you guys again at the next meet on the 26th.

Address: 767 W Blaine St Riverside, CA 92507
Time: 8PM+ Every other Wednesday.
